Last year’s NXNE was my very first festival as an AUX employee – I was recovering from bronchitis and didn’t know how I’d be able to endure the week of music showcase-bar-hopping. Lo and behold: I got drunk, I listened to great music and I helped spread the word of AUX TV on the streets! This year I am so super stoked for the festival – a year of music industry networking, a channel that’s gone from online to broadcast and awesome co-workers will make for a week of debauchery. Above is my tentative NXNE schedule – not including parties and BBQ’s – if you’ve got a wristband, heck if you’ve got a delegate pass – please please please send me a tweet and let’s meet up and party!!
I’m most excited to see Savoir Adore, Japandroids, Health, Winhara, Hannah Georgas, We are Enfant Terrible and Maylee!! How about you?

I’ve wanted to do a feature on ‘what’s in my purse’ for awhile – though my initial idea was to make one as a spread a la print magazines. Abby – who is obviously a beauty guru – then introduced me to her fabulous YouTube channel where she made a video of well, what’s in her purse!

There was media bash thrown this past week for the opening of the new resto/club/lounge, Parts & Labour – where the hottest of the Queen Westers came to play. What I’m most stoked about is the bands who will perform in the basement (and where I can hang out on the bleachers – yes the bleachers). Richard Lambert, Jesse Girard, Brian Richer and Kei Ng are the badass masterminds behind the new ‘it’ spot. The Social, Castor Design and Oddfellows are the other projects headed up by these guys and from what I experienced from those venues – P&L will be just as awesome!
Parts and Labour, 1566 Queen St. W. (at Sorauren Ave.), 416-588-7750, partsandlabour.ca.
PS. I made it into the Globe & Mail, check it out here.

There’s something about Fifa World Cup that unites the world unlike any other sporting event. I was thinking about the fact that during the 2010 Olympic games that took place right here, in Canada, didn’t elicit a much hype as the world cup already has this season. This morning I insisted asked that master control change the channels to the game – they obviously obliged. I watched South Africa’s opening ceremony this morning and there was so much pride – I had goosebumps. Kick off was brilliant, RSA played brilliantly – the first day of games ended with ties.
I asked the people on Twitter to send me photos of them watching the game at work – here’s what I got:
